NFL Helmet 2 Helmet: Wild Card Round

January Football is what decides championships in the NFL, let’s take a look at all four games in the wild card round.

It’s crazy how much things have changed during the home stretch for both the Carolina Panthers and the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona was the top team in the NFL through week 11, since then, they’ve lost 4 of their last 6 and have endure the loss of starting quarterback Carson Palmer which pushed them back all the way to the 5th seed. Carolina is in this discussion because they won the NFL South with only a 7-8-1, and even though the Panthers have won 4 straight, not a single one of their opponents during this streak was a playoff team. Arizona’s problem, is that there is too much uncertainty going into this week, and with Palmer out and the game being played in Charlotte, I think the Panthers will squeak out a win. PREDICTION – PANTHERS

The Cincinnati Bengals will travel to Indianapolis for what is likely to be a repeat of their match-up earlier in the season. To refresh your memory, Cincinnati’s defense didn’t have a damn thing for Andrew Luck and suffered a 27 – 0 loss. A.J. Green is likely going to be a game time decision for the Bengals, but many believe the head shot he took this past Sunday night will leave him at less than 80% whether he plays or not, not to mention the fact that Andy Dalton is steadily becoming another great regular season quarterback who can’t get it done in the playoffs, and we don’t think he’ll get it done this week either. PREDICTION – COLTS

This week the Dallas Cowboys defeating the Detroit Lions is a no-brainer, right? Not so fast, Detroit is playing some damn good football this season. They have the league’s 2nd best overall defense and the best rushing defense in football this season lead by brutish defensive monster Ndamukong Suh, what does this all mean for Detroit’s gameplan? Simple, keep on eye on Dez Bryant and pressure Tony Romo to take chances. I definitely think Romo will be good for at least a few picks which will give the Lions the opportunity they need, giving this game to them. PREDICTION – LIONS

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens have both put up a hell of a fight this season to win the AFC North Divsion (which had three teams make it to January) including two games against each other which the two teams split respectfully. This weekend the Steelers and Ravens will face for a third time this season in Pittsburgh. One thing I have always said about both Roethlisberger and Flacco, is that both QBs always seem to find a way to get things done, not in the most fashionable manner, but done nonetheless. I’m just not sure that Pittsburgh, who lost superstar Pro Bowl running back La’Von Bell this past week, has enough to get past Baltimore, but I’m still predicting a Steelers victory and a high scoring game regardless. PREDICTION – STEELERS
